Our Story – Authentic Nepalese Heritage Since 2017
Mul Chowk Kitchen began as a family dream to share the authentic tastes of Nepal with Australia’s diverse communities. Named after the historic “Mulchowk” palace in Kathmandu that served as a royal court during the Malla dynasty, our restaurant honors Nepalese cultural traditions while creating memorable dining experiences for every guest.
As a leading Nepali restaurant in Canberra, we opened our Mawson location in 2022 after establishing our reputation in Sydney’s Campsie since 2017. Our journey represents more than just serving food – we’re building bridges between Nepal’s ancient culinary traditions and Australia’s modern multicultural landscape, creating spaces where authentic flavors tell stories of heritage, family, and community.
Our commitment extends beyond exceptional cuisine to encompass live music, cultural celebrations, and warm hospitality that reflects the genuine spirit of Nepal. Every dish we prepare carries the knowledge passed down through generations of traditional cooks, ensuring authenticity while meeting contemporary dining expectations.
Why We’re Recognized as the Best Nepalese Restaurant
Our reputation stems from our unwavering commitment to authentic ingredients, traditional cooking techniques, and exceptional customer service. We source fresh local produce combined with genuine Nepalese and Indian spices, ensuring every meal delivers the true flavors that define Himalayan cuisine.
Our experienced chefs bring decades of culinary expertise from Nepal, maintaining traditional preparation methods while adapting to dietary preferences and local tastes. This approach has earned recognition from food enthusiasts, cultural communities, and dining guides throughout the Canberra and Sydney regions.
